How to change seat position

As standard this seat comes set in the middle position and can be set 12 mm (½″) forward or backward by the paddler.

Changing the seat position can help the paddler to feel more comfortable in the kayak by altering the fit in the cockpit.

Instructions

You will need

1. 4 mm Allen key
2. If moving the seat back you will need a hand saw to trim the foam P-Pad.
3. If moving the seat forward, you will also need a 12mm piece of foam and some contact adhesive to add to the P-Pad or you can purchase a larger P-Pad and trim it accordingly. P Pad – Sea Kayaking UK Outlet

Step By Step

1. Undo the backrest buckle and untie the backrest elastics.
2. Remove the P Pad Foam from behind the seat.
3. Remove the foam insert from the centre of each hip pad. This will expose 2 Allen bolts.
4. Remove all 4 Allen Bolts.
   
5. Slide the seat forward or back 12mm.
6. Insert the Allen bolts again, please note there will now only be one blank hole between the bolts this is correct.
   1. Troubleshooting – If you struggle to relocate the bolts it is usually because they are not pushing through the webbing on the back band. It can be fiddly, and you may need to lift the seat out to relocate the bolts in the holes in the webbing.
7. Loosely screw in the bolts.
8. Test out the new seat position.
9. If your happy fully tighten the bolts and push the foam back in to the hip pad.
10. Forward or back?
    1. If you have moved the seat forward, you will need to cut a piece of foam to add to the P-Pad to reinforce the seat back and avoid cracking. Or trim down a large P-Pad to fit using a handsaw.
    2. If you have moved the seat back, trim your original P-Pad using a handsaw so that it fits snuggly behind the seat.
