Oval hatch

All our kayaks come with round hatches as standard. 

The bow and stern hatches have an inside diameter of 24cm (9.4"). The offset day hatch behind the cockpit has an inside diameter of 19cm (7.5"). We feel that round hatches are superior to oval ones for the following reasons. 

• Oval hatches can be more difficult to put on.
• They are more likely to come off in surf or during self rescues.
• They are more liable to flood the compartment in even small waves.
• It is more difficult to improvise a hatch in the field should one be lost. 

An oval hatch at the rear of the kayak can be ordered on the following kayaks as a custom option.
