The first step is selecting a model that aligns with your paddling requirements. Use the Kayak filter to aid you in narrowing down your choices. We purposely refrain from providing weight ranges and recommended paddler specifications as we believe they offer limited guidance for selecting the best kayak. We suggest consulting your local dealer for expert advice or reaching out to us directly. Ideally, we recommend test paddling kayaks in some appropriate conditions for an optimal decision-making process.

Choosing a Kayak

1. Kayak Model

What type of kayaking activity do you want to do? Speed, day/weekend or Expeditioning i.e. multi-day trips.

The longer expedition kayaks need to be considered if you’replanning to do multi-day expeditions. The smaller kayaks should be fine for a weekend or a week trip, but they will slow down when loaded. The longer kayaks will be faster and carry more.

2. Lay-ups

The lay-up needs to be chosen for durability and weight.

3. Type of Skeg or Rudder?

98% of ordered kayaks do not have rudders fitted. We do however recommend a rudder for the Triton (double).

4. Size of Seat

Please note the standard seats fit the majority of kayakers that the kayak was designed for but there are smaller and larger seats available along with a foam seat.
